Follow Friday (2)

Q: If you could change the ending of any book (or series), which book would you choose? Why and to what?

This was an easy decision for me! Those who have read my review of Mockingjay know how disappointed and upset I was about the ending to the page turning Hunger Games series. I can't even begin to express how terrible it was in my opinion! I definitely think that Suzanne Collins could have easily added another chapter in order to heal the broken bridge between Katniss and Peeta a little bit better. *Spoiler Alert* As the ending stands right now I find it hard to believe that Katniss married Peeta after all. Although this was something I was hoping for the entire time, it felt like Katniss settled for Peeta rather than actually fell in love with him (especially considering they spent the majority of the novel not even talking to each other). For once I really hope that the movie version of Mockingjay really Hollywoodizes (not a real word but just go with it lol) the ending so that it flows a little bit better!

Hi, I'm Izzy and I'm stopping by for Follow Friday! I wrote about Mockingjay as well and I definitely agree with you. There was a LOT that should have been changed about the ending.

I had to skip this reading this because I'm about to start the series. I'm dreading it now though, since so many people seem to want to change Mockingjay!

Happy Friday!

Wow, A LOT of people have been talking about Mockingjay and The Hunger Games Series, in general. I really loved them, but I can see their flaws, too, like any other book! Great post & Great blog!! I'm a new follower :)

Alot of people mentioned Mockingjay today. I was sad about the deaths in the last book for sure.

Completely agree with you about Mockingjay. I think Gale's character should've been explored more too!!

Thanks for the visit to my blog! I hate to say it, but something about MOCKINGJAY's ending was enjoyable to me. I loved how Katniss "settling" especially showed the irony in Katniss leading such a sad life when there was all that promise presented by her teenage years...

LOL! So much THG anger this week. I chose the same thing!! Still annoyed at the ending a month after reading it. Agreed about the Hollywood take on the ending. We can only hope.

To be fair, I enjoyed the end of Mockingjay for the most part. However, I did think there needed to an extra 30-40 pages in just tying everything up. It was really hard for me to go from THAT to an almost HPish epilogue. The transition wasn't quite there for me. :/
