Razorbill Blogger of the Month!

Ahhh!!! A couple of weeks ago I received an email that Razorbill had chosen me to be their Blogger of the Month for June! Needless to say I was pretty excited! If you haven't checked out their community site yet then you really should because it is awesome! They have forums for discussions, the latest news on Razorbill books, and free giveaways! As the Razorbill Blogger of the Month I got to do a short interview which you can read in full here. I've copied and pasted some of the questions and my answers below too! Enjoy :)

1. How did you or why did you name your blog what you named it?

"Originally I wanted to call it To Be Shelved, a library term that I love, but..."

It actually took me a long time to decide on the name for my blog. Originally I wanted to call it To Be Shelved, a library term that I love, but someone else already had a blog by that name! After thinking about my reading habits for a while, however, I realized that the majority of the books that I picked up were the result of browsing through my friends' bookshelves. I am a terrible bookshelf browser! Anytime I go to someone's house and see that they have a bookshelf, I immediately gravitate towards it to see what they've purchased for themselves! So, I thought Browsing Bookshelves was actually a pretty appropriate name!

2. What do you look for in other blogs when reading or following them?

I follow a pretty wide range of blogs – everything from blogs about YA books to blogs sharing grilled cheese recipes (yes...that's right...a blog dedicated to grilled cheese! It's pretty awesome!). Usually one of the main things that draws me to a blog, however, is the voice that they use when writing. I appreciate someone who knows how to write with a bit of humour and can get me smiling after a terrible day!

3. How did you start blogging in the first place? What were your inspirations?
"after reading one of my old high school friend's blog that I started to get the itch to start my own..."

I never in my wildest dreams would have imagined myself starting a blog! It was only after reading one of my old high school friend's blog that I started to get the itch to start my own (check it out! Mostly I started writing, however, to keep up my writing skills from getting rusty over the summer and share my love of books with my friends and family!
4. Tell us about some of the people (author's, publishers, other bloggers, etc that you've met while blogging?

Ah! I've met sooo many amazing people since I started blogging! Some of the fantastic authors I've gotten to meet include Veronica Roth (Divergent), Lauren Oliver (Delirium), Jay Asher (13 Reasons Why), Lesley Livingston (Once Every Never) and Charles De Lint (Under My Skin), and Tony Kushner (Angels In America). I've also had the honour of getting to work with fantastic publishers like Razorbill, Simon & Schuster Canada, and Hachette Canada! I think one of my favourite parts about blogging though has been getting to know the actual bloggers! Other book bloggers are great because they share and understand your own obsession with reading!

5. What are some of your favourite TV shows you like to watch while not reading?

Oh goodness. I could go on forever about some of my favourite tv shows! I love them almost as much as books (but not quite as much!). Some of my favourite tv shows include: Game of Thrones, Castle, The Bachelor, Teen Wolf, Archer, IT Crowd, Downton Abbey, Vampire Diaries, Big Bang Theory and Destination Truth. That is just the condensed version of my list. If I were to choose between books and tv though, I'd still choose books!

Thanks so much to Razorbill for choosing me to be the Blogger of the Month! I look forward to seeing who gets chosen next! Don't hesitate to add me as a friend on Goodreads or follow me on Twitter (@tobeshelved)!
